Chelina Manuhutu

Amsterdam born Chelina, was surround by music growing up with her family. He father was in a latin rock band, and her mother was a professional ballet dancer. Her older brother started to DJ and mix tracks on decks he had at their family home when she was around 13. She was fascinated and he became a big influence to her during her teen years. During this time, she continued to get back home to the studio in-between modeling jobs to listen and mix new music, where she found this was the only way she could relax from a hectic and often stressful schedule. In 2010 she unfortunately had terrible accident in a house fire that left her with burns on a large portion of her body, with scars covering her arms, back, legs and shoulders. She remained in hospital for months to have essential skin surgery, she took this time to reflect on next potential career move given assuming that after her accident, modeling would no longer be something she could possibly continue with. However her career seemed busier than ever, people were interested in her story, and her recovery and it seemed like the modeling world has a new found respect for her. But it was at this point, that she decided to change direction and during a trip to Ibiza, playing some venues and parties, she was eventually discovered by The Blue Marlin in 2011. Since that point, the Blue Marlin have pushed Chelina, where she has been a regular at the venue for the past few years. This obviously lead to her exposure on the island and bought interest in the form of a manager and booking agent which helped her to progress and secure some fantastic shows and venues. She has over 20 gigs during 2016 summer in Ibiza alone, making her mark at Sankeys along with 8 confirmed gigs for Solomun at Pacha and 2 for Nic Fanciulli’s “We Are The Night”. To this moment, Chelina has focused on being a DJ, however she has expressed her desire to work on her first major production this autumn with her debut EP with a potential collaboration on the cards. After her cover issue feature in Ushuaia last month, the island is very aware of Chelina Manuhutu, and with her now booked in Ibiza throughout the summer and branching out to Asia this September with two massive shows confirmed for Ultra Festival in both Singapore and Bali... she will be making a lot more noise in the industry yet!
